What is it and how do I get it?

Optimal health, for me, is when my physical, spiritual and mental well being are in balance and I feel energized, alert, happy, rested and free from all aches and pains while maintaining a healthy weight. Sound too good to be true? Believe me, if I can do it, you can too.

I know most people, even if they're carrying an extra 20 pounds or more, think of themselves as being healthy and, if asked, will say they "feel fine". We have become so accustomed to the lack of optimal health, that "feeling fine" is the norm. But how does "feeling fantastic" sound to you?

Sadly, we often take our health and wellness for granted. Rarely are we moved to action until there is some accident, incident, or ailment that kicks us into doing something.

What do I need to do?

Decide to take control of your health! You may have losing weight as your primary goal and first step to better health. However, weight loss is actually just a benefit of moving towards better health. As you start to address each of the five areas listed below, you will begin feeling better and naturally shed the excess weight.

Take one step in each of these areas to start making a difference today.

  1. Nutrition: Eat smaller portions and eat more fruits, vegetables and less fried, fatty and processed foods. And avoid fast foods. (You'll save lots of money in the process.)

  2. Physical Exercise: Get moving. Walk the stairs at work, walk around the block at lunch, just get up and move. It doesn't have to take up a big part of your day.   3. Sleep and Rest: Get 7-9 hours of sleep per night. Good nutrition and exercise should help you sleep better.

  4. Health Care: See your doctor for your annual physical. Have regular preventative chiropractic care.

  5. Mental and Spiritual Balance: Take time for yourself to meditate and practice relaxation exercises.

Your body wants to be healthy and when given the nutrition it craves, it will work to achieve optimum health and weight.
